Namaskar, friends! I am Savita Shekhawat, and in today's blog post, I am sharing with you a simple home remedy—or you could call it a kitchen tip! Do you love making desserts at home? If yes, then you've probably heard of condensed milk. Whether it's kheer, halwa, cakes, brownies, or homemade chocolates, condensed milk adds richness, sweetness, and a creamy texture that makes every dessert taste even better.
Many of us buy condensed milk from the market, often at a high price. But did you know that you can easily make it at home using just three simple ingredients? In this blog, I'll share an easy homemade condensed milk recipe that tastes just like the store-bought version.
You only need a few basic kitchen ingredients:
- ½ liter Full Cream Milk
- Sugar (as per taste)
- A pinch of Baking Powder
Step-by-Step Method
Step 1: Boil the Milk Pour the full cream milk into a heavy-bottomed pan or saucepan and bring it to a boil over medium heat.
Step 2: Add Sugar Once the milk starts boiling, add sugar according to your taste. Continue cooking on low to medium heat until the milk reduces to almost half its original quantity. Stir occasionally to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
Step 3: Add Baking Powder When the milk becomes thick and develops a light creamy color, add a pinch of baking powder. As soon as you add it, the mixture will start foaming slightly. Keep stirring continuously.
Step 4: Cool the Mixture Cook until the mixture becomes creamy, glossy, and slightly thick. Turn off the heat and let it cool. Remember that condensed milk thickens further as it cools.
Step 5: Store Properly Allow the condensed milk to cool completely. Transfer it to a clean glass jar and store it in the refrigerator.
Uses of Homemade Condensed Milk
- Desserts and Sweets: Use it in kheer, halwa, rabri, and other traditional Indian sweets for a richer flavor.
